The national launch of the Australian Innovation Festival was held in Sydney on Wednesday. The event was also the launch of the official publication of the festival, Australian Innovation. Keynote speaker was Senator Kim Carr, minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.

Verity Firth, MP,  NSW Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, Minister for Women, Minister for Science and Medical Research, Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer), and Peter Westfield, Chair of the Australian Innovation Festiva, also spoke at the launch. Master of Ceremony duties were handled with aplomb by James O'Laughlin, host of ABC TV's The New Inventors.
